Bajo Port — Privacy Policy

Bajo Port (“we”, “us”) operates the website bajoport.com. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. We respect your privacy and collect the minimum data needed to run an editorial website and respond to enquiries.

Information we collect

When you submit our contact form we receive the name, email address and message you provide, so we can reply. Like most websites we also collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited). We run no advertising network, no remarketing pixel and no tag manager on this site. Page views are counted by Cloudflare Web Analytics wherever Cloudflare’s edge adds it. The script is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device and reports aggregate totals rather than anything about you as an individual. Cloudflare injects it at its own edge rather than shipping it in this site’s code, so it is missing both when a page is fetched with a tool that does not announce itself as a browser and when the request is served from an edge location where Cloudflare does not inject it — which makes the count a sample of visits rather than a census of them.

How we use it

We use contact details only to answer your enquiry. We do not sell personal data. The only measurement here is Cloudflare’s cookieless, aggregate page-view count, where its edge adds it; it builds no profile of you. We retain enquiry emails only as long as needed to assist you.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own — not for advertising, not for analytics, not for anything else. Three small values can be kept in your browser’s local storage instead: the colour mode you chose, a note that you have dismissed the privacy notice, and, if you use the departure checklist on the home page, which of its boxes you have ticked. All three stay on your device and are removed when you clear site data for bajoport.com. Our security and delivery layer (Cloudflare) may set its own short-lived cookie to tell humans from bots.

Third parties

Two third parties see a request when you open a page: our host, and Cloudflare, which serves the site and, at some of its edge locations, injects the cookieless Web Analytics script your browser then loads from static.cloudflareinsights.com. No other third-party script runs on these pages: every other script file comes from bajoport.com itself. Web fonts are served from this domain, so your browser does not contact a third-party font host for them. Photographs are licensed from Unsplash and Wikimedia Commons but are served from this domain, not from theirs. Outbound links (for example to Wikipedia, official tourism boards or government sites) are governed by those sites’ own policies.

Bajo Port does not operate boats, sell trips or take bookings. It publishes a guide. That single fact settles most of this policy: a site that never handles a passenger manifest, a passport scan or a payment has very little reason to collect anything about you, and we have kept it that way on purpose.

So there is no advertising network on these pages, no remarketing pixel and no tag manager. The site sets no cookie of its own — not one, on any page. The single measurement script is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare injects at some of its edge locations and not at others; it sets no cookie and writes nothing to your device. Every other script these pages load is served from bajoport.com itself and exists to run the on-page tools. The three values it can keep live in your browser’s local storage, never leave your device, and disappear when you clear site data: which colour mode you chose, whether you have dismissed the privacy notice, and, if you have used the departure checklist on the home page, which of its boxes you ticked.

The exceptions are the ordinary ones. Our host writes standard server logs. Cloudflare sits in front of the site and may set a short-lived cookie to distinguish humans from bots. The web fonts are served from this domain, not from Google Fonts or any other font host, so reading a page here does not make your browser request a file from a third-party font server. If you write to us, we keep your message only as long as it takes to answer it — and if you would rather we did not keep it at all, say so in the message and we will delete it once you have your answer.
